Fire Evacuation Procedure
NU Samworth Academy
If you find a fire or one is reported to you
Anyone discovering a fire should activate the alarm using the nearest available ‘break glass’ call point.
Fire fighting
- The safe evacuation of persons is an absolute priority; staff may only attempt to deal with small fires using portable fire equipment if trained to do so.
- Ensure the alarm is raised before attempting to tackle a fire.
On hearing the fire alarm
- All occupants of the building must respond to alarm activations.
- The fire alarm is a continuous ringing bell.
- Reception staff will summon the emergency services (DIAL 999) as necessary.
- Any person in a leadership role for groups using NUSA should ensure that their group evacuate the building by the nearest available fire exit.
- It is the responsibility of group leaders to ensure they have a register of attendees and to check that everyone who has attended the session is clear of the building.
- Each group leader should confirm with an Active4Today staff member at the assembly point that the group is all present and accounted for.
- No one should re-enter the building until instructed to do so by the emergency services or Active4Today staff member.
THE ASSEMBLY POINT IS THE GRASSED PITCHES TO THE REAR OF THE BUILDINGS.
A CALM ORDERLY EXIT IS ESSENTIAL. WALK QUICKLY – DO NOT RUN OR STOP TO COLLECT BELONGINGS
