Talented Individuals- Catherine Curtis
We were delighted to learn last week that one of our talented individuals, who uses Newark Sports & Fitness Centre for her training, Catherine Curtis, part of NFTO (Not For The Ordinary) won the female four-way category in the Skydiving World Championships in Eloy, Arizona. They overcame tough competition from second and third placed teams from France and the USA respectively, scoring an average of 20 formations per skydive.
NFTO have completed over 500 jumps together this year as well as many hours practising in a wind tunnel to simulate freefall. This was achieved in addition to full time jobs in various fields including the military, NHS and air sports. It has taken enormous sacrifices in terms of personal finance, time away from loved ones, and the utmost dedication to achieve their goals.
We provide free access passes to one of our leisure centres for talented individuals who are members of national squads. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Newark and Sherwood, a current member of a national squad at the date of application, and represent their country in competitions.
